Shim Kyu-seon and “시내”

Shim Kyu-seon wrote, composed and performed “시내,” the opening track of her 2021 album 《소로》.¹²

The session used a 44.1 kHz/16-bit file from 《소로》, released on 24 October 2021. GYU (헤아릴 규) is credited on the release, under licence to Kakao Entertainment.¹³⁴

A comparison you can navigate

Three thirty-second passages from “시내” return as the network configuration changes. HFI settled on those windows after reviewing relevant psychoacoustic research, balancing enough time for musical context, spatial cues and decay with a short enough interval to compare adjacent states.

The comparison moves among one Aurender NH10, two NH10 units, and two NH10 units with an Aurender MC10 reference clock. Returning to the one-NH10 condition after each group gives the listener a recurring baseline and makes the sequence easy to revisit.

The exact chapter sequence

The opening 30 seconds presents the full two-NH10-plus-MC10 configuration. From 0:30, the first musical segment is heard with one NH10, two NH10 units, two NH10 units plus MC10, and then one NH10 again. The same order repeats for the second segment from 2:30 and the third from 4:30.

Inside the complete system

The comparison centres on the Aurender NH10 and MC10. HzProject’s HzCORE music server, HzBRIDGE Roon Bridge and HzRouter supported the playback environment. In the two-NH10 states, one unit faced the router and Internet; an Aurender-supplied 10G-rated SFP+ cable assembly linked it to the second NH10 on the downstream audio network. In the MC10 state, the MC10 supplied the reference to both NH10s and the dCS Vivaldi Clock. A dCS Rossini APEX Player and Vivaldi Clock handled conversion and word-clock distribution and are also used for HiFi Immersion YouTube channel editing. Boulder 1110 and 1151 amplification drove YG Acoustics Summit loudspeakers, with the system on a HIFISTAY MYTHOLOGY X-1 rack.⁵⁶⁷⁸

Only the Aurender network and clock configuration changes; the rest of the playback chain stays in place.

Returning to what caught your ear

Captured for the sweet spot

HFI recorded the session at HzProject in Yongin on 7 July 2026. The DPA-4011 pair was positioned precisely for the sweet-spot sound, with a laser distance meter used to set the microphones’ distance from the loudspeakers. They fed a Zoom F8n Pro through Vertere microphone cables at 192 kHz/32-bit float.
